THE BIRTH OF THE FEDERATION

East Renfrewshire Tenants and Residents Federation was formed 1999/2000 for the purpose of bringing together the various Registered Tenants Organisations within the new Local Authority Boundaries. 

As this was a newly created Council, amalgamating part of Renfrewshire Council (Barrhead and Neilston) with Eastwood Council (Thornliebank, Newton Mearns, Busby and Eaglesham) in 1995/6, it was the tenants decision to work together across the new Authority area to bring together Tenants groups who had never worked as a team before.

Initially, under the chairmanship of Phil Traish, of Dunterlie Tennants Action Group, the Federation was formed along with Dalmeny TRA, Thornliebank TRA, Auchenback TRA, Craighead TRA and Arthurlie TRA. Mearns Village Community Association, Busby TRA and Eaglesham TRA joined the Federation shortly after.
